Double Masters Launch Party: 2 Things You Need to Know

Double Masters Launch Party: 2 Things You Need to Know

July 20, 2020 | 3 min to read

IMPORTANT: In-store play, including Double Masters Launch Party, is currently suspended in the United States and Latin America. Those regions may run remote Launch Parties, in the Sealed Deck format.

But even in regions where live Launch Parties are available in EventLink and Wizards Event Reporter, this is not intended to encourage WPN members to run events.

We have made several changes to our normal event policies to ensure WPN members do not feel pressured to schedule events and can remain compliant with local health and safety guidelines. Events reported during this period will never impact your play metrics or your product and promotion allocations.

Double Masters is one of the most ambitious Masters sets to date—double the rare slots in every Draft Booster, double the box toppers in every Draft Booster Box, double the promos, and double the first picks in Draft.

This set is filled to the brim with some of the most powerful cards in Magic's history, plus new art, special treatments, and combos that shine in Limited.

Whether you're hosting the Double Masters Launch Party in-store or not, Double Masters has a lot to offer. Let's dive into what you need to know.

Double the Promos: Hand out Chord of Calling and Wrath of God with an Event Entry or Full Box of Double Masters

If you aren't running in-store play during the event window, or you're in a region where it isn't available, don't worry. You'll get the promos for the Double Masters Launch Party whether you're able to schedule or not.

Players can grab Chord of Calling and Wrath of God either from playing at the event or buying a box of Double Masters. Whichever they do, always issue these promos as a pair.

Under normal circumstances, Promo Packs and Launch promos—like the two included in Double Masters Launch Party—are intended to reward in-store play. But even if you aren't running in-store play, you can still make good use of them as a sales incentive.

Make sure your players know they don't need to play in an event to get ahold of these promos—advertise by downloading the Double Masters marketing materials to help give your box sales a boost.

Chord of Calling and Wrath of God can also be shipped with any online orders of a full box of Double Masters at your discretion, and you can continue to ship Promo Packs with online orders as a sales incentive.

Double the First Picks: Special Rules for All Double Masters Draft Events, Including Launch Party

Note: Booster Drafts for Double Masters are available only outside the US & Latin America.

You can schedule any number of Double Masters Launch Party events between August 7 and August 9—we've lifted all limits on the number of events you can run within the event window to help organizers maximize overall attendance while limiting the number of people in their store at one time.

Double Masters is all about doubling the fun—players can take two cards for their first pick each pack during Draft events. This special rule is intended for all Double Masters Booster Drafts, including the Launch Party.

While the Launch Party was originally created as a Draft event, we understand that players may not want to handle each other's cards right now. That's why 4-Pack Sealed is also available for the Double Masters Launch Party.

Thirty-card/four-pack Sealed is only available in EventLink, so if that's your choice, schedule it there. You can schedule and run Drafts through EventLink or WER, but this is a great chance to try EventLink in your store regardless of which format you choose.

EventLink integrates with the Magic Companion app—if players are using Companion, their app will notify them of who they are paired with, and they can report results in the app. That, in turn, cuts down on lines to check pairings or report results.

As a reminder, the metrics snapshot taken February 15 is in effect until further notice. So there's no incentive from Wizards to host events. Events reported during this period will never impact your play metrics or your product and promotion allocations.

We recommend all WPN members review and observe best practices for event management as provided by local health authorities, as well as organizations such as the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control.

Scheduling is open now for all Double Masters Launch Party events from August 7–9.
