Retail Support's Alex Green: Changes Coming With WAR Allocations
Alex Green, Retail Support Supervisor
I’m Alex Green and I lead Wizards’ Retail Support team. If you've ever called up about your FNM promo shipment, or for help with Wizards Event Reporter, or with questions about your Prerelease allocation, you were probably talking to someone on my team.
Scheduling for War of the Spark opens on Monday (sign up!), and you should find your prospective allocation numbers in your inbox around then.
As always, me and my team stand ready to help with any questions you might have. But if you want to avoid the phone queue, here are a few things I expect to get calls about.
It's based on the last two sets—whichever is higher.
In the old days, we'd compare "big sets" to "big sets" and "small sets" to "small sets." But all sets are big sets now, so we just look at your last two Prereleases.
In this case, that'll be Guilds of Ravnica and Ravnica Allegiance—whichever is higher. (Fun fact: those happen to be the two biggest Prereleases of all time.)
|Guilds of Ravnica (GRN)||War of the Spark (WAR)|
|Total Prerelease Packs||108||126|
|Baseline Prerelease Packs||72||90|
|Growth Prerelease Packs||36||36|
Prerelease Packs come in quantities of 18.
If you open your prospective allocation email and your numbers look slightly low, this could be why—the cases are smaller.
With War of the Spark we go back to the familiar Sealed format for Prerelease: the set will shift away from guild-specific content and back to the six packs you're most familiar with. Which is nice, since it evens out with booster box quantities (two booster packs per Prerelease Pack.)
We'll make your distributor choice your default going forward.
We're making a simple change here that we hope will make things a little easier for you.
When you sign up for War of the Spark Prerelease, we'll keep a record of the distributor you choose and use that distributor as your default for future sets. You'll still be able to switch your default distributor. If you ever want to change your default distributor, just get in touch with my team (or your region's equivalent).
Your final allocations arrive around March 18.
You'll get a second email around March 18 with your final numbers. They could be slightly different—sometimes we make adjustments once we have final sign up numbers, coordinated with distribution, etc.
But at that point, it's difficult to make changes. So if you notice any issues with your allocations, contact us before March 18.
Those are the main topics that me and my team usually get calls about. If you have any other questions, reach out to us or your regional representative.
