Hi again, it’s Nelson Brown, your WPN Community Manager. I wanted to take a minute to focus in on making the most of the upcoming winter set, Kaldheim, and running the best possible Prerelease.

But first, what is Kaldheim?

Kaldheim is an all new plane, never before visited by Magic. It’s inspired by Vikings and Norse mythology, with our own special twist. It’s a cold and frozen world, packed with giants, gods, and warriors.

With Kaldheim, our new, evolved product slate returns, including Theme, Draft, Set, and Collector Boosters. Plus, we have Bundles and two Kaldheim-themed introductory Commander Decks.

Prerelease means peak excitement for the new set—make the most of that excitement by understanding our Prerelease promotions and policies. Let’s dig in, with the Prerelease Early Sale promotion.

First, all WPN locations have an allocation of Draft Boosters which can be sold in full box quantities during Prerelease.

WPN Premium locations can also sell full boxes of Collector Boosters.

These are the only Booster products available for the Early Sale Promotion. You’ll have to hold onto everything else until the official release date.

Second, all WPN locations have an allocation of Buy-A-Box promos. Provide one of these promos to anyone that purchases a full box of Draft, Set, or Collector Boosters, or 6 Prerelease Packs. This includes sales that occur during Prerelease.

Finally, Prerelease isn’t just a weekend—it’s a full week of play and sales! Kaldheim Prerelease events and your Prerelease Early Sale Promotion run from January 29 through February 4.

Depending on where you are in the world, there are up to three types of Prerelease events: in-store, at-home, and webcam. In-store play remains suspended in several regions—check our COVID-19 hub article for the most recent information.

Prerelease uses WPN promotional materials in the form of Prerelease Packs. Using those materials for in-store events where play is suspended violates WPN policy.

If play is suspended in your region, you can’t run any form of in-store Prerelease—period. Instead, offer at-home or webcam events.

If you haven’t already, schedule your events using Wizards EventLink. Even if you’re not running traditional in-store events, putting your remote events on the calendar signals to your players what options you have available and keeps them engaged with your store.

Make sure you’re familiar with running remote events ahead of time and encourage your players to use the Companion app to participate.

After Prerelease ends, you can sell your leftover Prerelease packs along with any other Kaldheim products.

Your promo packs can be used to incentivize sales or to encourage players to attend your events, whether in-store or online. Between Launch Weekend, Friday Night Magic, and Commander Nights, Prerelease is just the beginning!
