Strixhaven 101: Enrollment Starts Now

Get ready to welcome Magic fans to Strixhaven: School of Mages

We’ve got first-day jitters in the best possible way with the announcement of Strixhaven: School of Mages. In this latest release, Magic fans join the battle between five different colleges at Strixhaven, the most prestigious university for magical learning in the Magic Multiverse.

Each college has its own unique personality and playstyle, and players can choose whichever college they prefer.

Here’s the scoop on what sets Strixhaven apart, so you can help your players—ahem, students—get hyped for Prerelease!

The Colleges of Strixhaven

Let’s take a closer look at the five colleges at Strixhaven. Give fans a tour of each college so they can make the best choice for them based on aptitudes and desired areas of study. Download the new campus map and share on social media to help them get oriented.

Lorehold

Loreholds are diligent researchers and daring adventurers. Passionate scholars obsessed with history, they explore the past by pouring over archaeological artifacts and summoning long-dead spirits. For some students, the past is a rich tapestry worthy of disciplined study. While others wear that tapestry like a cape as they jump down into a forgotten tomb.

Prismari

Prismari are the theater kids of Strixhaven and magic is how they express themselves. Their spells can be spectacles of raw creativity or meticulous artistic expressions. All the world's a stage, and whether their art is informed by mind or emotion, Prismari always leave a lasting impression.

Quandrix

Quandrix mages are ingenious math magicians. They study patterns, fractals, and symmetries to command power over the fundamental forces of nature. They'll solve a Rubik's Cube while contemplating the metaphysical properties of the universe and can recite every number of Pi backwards.

Silverquill

Silverquills wield the magic of words, from inspiring battle poetry to biting arcane insults. Stylish, intimidating, and tirelessly competitive, these mages are born leaders with a razor-sharp wit and natural charisma that can be used for good or for ill.

Witherbloom

Witherblooms are goth bio majors. They draw power from the essence of living beings, whether that means enhancing nature or exploiting it. Witherbloom mages are most at home riding zombie crocs, picking herbs for potions, and hanging out in their swamp making grim jokes.

Strixhaven Product Packaging

From Draft Boosters to Set Boosters to Bundles, there’s plenty to tailor a player’s Strixhaven experience—and you can show them the way at Prerelease events by showing off all the benefits of their chosen college.

The five factions of Strixhaven make this set extra fun. Even better? Each college has its own Commander Deck. These decks feature eighty-one new cards and focus on the colors and themes of their associated colleges.

  • Lorehold Legacies

  • Prismari Performance

  • Quantum Quandrix

  • Silverquill Statement

  • Witherbloom Witchcraft

As we move towards reduced-waste packaging design, these decks will have reduced-plastic packaging—only the wrap around the cards themselves will be plastic. We’ll have more on this new initiative in coming weeks.

The Mystical Archive: Powerful Spells from Magic’s History

The Mystical Archive is a library of historical spells at Strixhaven that every student can access, and there’s something for everyone. This collection contains sixty-three cards from Magic’s history.

Mystical Archive cards can be found throughout the set—Draft and Set Boosters contain one Mystical Archive card, and Collector Boosters have at least three. The Mystical Archive is available in all languages, and there will be more surprises to share about these cards very soon.

Japanese variants for the Mystical Archive can be found in Japanese Draft and Set Boosters—and Collector Boosters in all languages contain at least one Japanese variant!

Both Japanese variants and other language versions of Mystical Archive cards are available in foil and the new foil etched treatment—you can only find the foil-etched treatment Mystical Archive cards in Collector Boosters.

That should set you up for orientation in March when we'll have lots of new information to share. Until then, help your fans get enrolled by scheduling your Strixhaven Prerelease today!
