Before you schedule Guilds of Ravnica. . .

There are some big changes this time around. Here’s what you need to know before you schedule your events.

Guilds of Ravnica scheduling opens today!

There are some big changes this time around, so here’s what you need to know before you schedule your events:

Schedule Standard Showdown and we’ll send you a preview card.

This morning, stores participating in Core Set 2019 Standard Showdown found a small thank you in their inboxes: a preview card from Commander 2018, which they’re free to share with players as they choose.

If you missed out, don’t worry—we’re doing it again for Guilds of Ravnica. Sign up and you’ll get the card via email on September 17. (This date may change.)

Note, however, that Standard Showdown will skip a week, November 4–10. That’s because:

Sign up for Ravnica Weekend, a brand new event coming in November.

The goal is to boost play mid-season. Sign up and get 20 foil basic lands, 10 Guild prints (11x14” cardstock posters, similar to the prints from Unstable), and a preview adventure from the upcoming Magic/D&D crossover.

You’ll see two events in WER: Ravnica Weekend and Ravnica Weekend D&D Event.

Here’s how they work:

Ravnica Weekend:

Run four-pack Booster Drafts with Guilds of Ravnica and award participants with a Ravnica foil basic land. You can also host casual Guild Kit battles with the Ravnica Guild Kits that will be releasing Friday, November 2.

Ravnica Weekend—D&D event:

Use the preview adventure to host a D&D event each day of Ravnica Weekend. You’ll get the adventure about a week beforehand so that you can share it with your DMs.

Note that you’ll get the entire kit whether you schedule one or both of these events. The reason there are two is so that we can distinguish between them in the Store and Event Locator—so, only sign up for both Magic and D&D if you intend to run both of them.

Prerelease Packs are Guild-based.

Which means they’ll come in case quantities of twenty, rather than the usual eighteen. This way there’s an even number of each guild in the set—Boros, Selesnya, Izzet, Golgari, and Dimir—so that we can give players their best shot at getting the guild they want.

If you ran Prerelease around Return to Ravnica, you’ll know what comes next: Prerelease Packs also include a seeded booster, composed entirely of cards relevant to that player’s guild. So, each Prerelease Pack includes five Guilds of Ravnica boosters, plus the seeded pack.

League Kits include promo cards only.

Finally, there are some changes to the League kit for Guilds of Ravnica: you’ll get foil promos for your participants, but collection boxes and match cards have been omitted from the kit. (Short version of the reason: they cost a lot and do little to drive players into stores.)

If you’ve got extra collection boxes from Core Set 2019, give them to your Guilds of Ravnica League players. And you can find printable League match cards under Event Accessories on the Marketing Materials page:

Don’t miss out. Log in to WER to schedule your Guilds of Ravnica events right away.
