What Is Magic Presents: Marvel Double Issue?

Magic Presents: Marvel Double Issue is a Two-Headed Giant event you can run anytime from December 4 through December 31. Players pair up to battle as a team, competing for two X-Men '97 Yearbook comic books exclusive to Magic events.

Two-Headed Giant makes Magic even more social with its added team dynamic. Two players share a single 30-life total and take their turns simultaneously—while maintaining their own hands and permanents—letting them plan combos and back each other up on the battlefield.

Marvel Double Issue is made for Magic regulars who are also Marvel fans: they know their way around a Magic event and now have an opportunity to bring their skill and their fandom to the table for a Marvel reward that's unique to Magic.

It's also great for the competitive player with a friend who loves Marvel but may not be as accustomed to in-store events. Two-Headed Giant is a good on-ramp for less competitive players, letting them enjoy the tournament-style experience with a friend in their corner.

How to Run Magic Presents: Marvel Double Issue

We recommend running Marvel Double Issue as Magic: The Gathering® | Marvel Super Heroes Sealed with single elimination, since the event awards one grand prize. You are welcome to add more prizes and use Swiss pairings. You may also run the event as Standard, Modern, Pioneer, or Booster Draft.

Review the rules for Two-Headed Giant before your events.

  • In Sealed events, players build 40-card decks from a shared pool of 8 boosters.
  • In Booster Draft events, players sit together and draft from 6 boosters, picking 2 cards from each booster and building their 40-card decks from their combined pool.
  • In Standard, Modern, and Pioneer events, teammates share the 4-card limit across both decks.
