Ready, set, drive! Get behind the wheel in Aetherdrift, a multiversal death race filled with adrenaline-fueled Magic gameplay across three worlds. Your players will leave their competition in the dust, chasing after the grand prize.
Aetherdrift is racing to release on February 14, 2025—for players eager and curious to learn more about the plane right away, send them to DailyMTG to peek at the first part of the Planeswalker's guide.
Let's take a pit stop and review the rest of our key dates and details.
Starting with Aetherdrift, Play Booster Displays will contain 30 Play Boosters instead of 36. This change will make ordering your additional prize support for Prerelease Packs even simpler, as Prerelease Packs will continue to come 15 per shipping carton.
For more details, read the announcement posted on DailyMTG.
The Prerelease repeat play pins are joining the race with Aetherdrift Prerelease! For players who participate in two or more Prerelease events at your store using their Wizards Account, you can reward them with an incredible pin. This time, we've partnered with Pinfinity AR to design a pin with an augmented-reality experience for players to enjoy.
Please keep in mind, this repeat play incentive is only for players who register for your event with a Wizards Account. Setting up an account takes minutes—so be sure to let your players know ahead of time so they can pre-register with their account in advance of the event.
Previously, players in select regions would redeem a code found in their Prerelease Pack on Magic: The Gathering Arena to earn rewards to keep playing digitally. Starting with Aetherdrift, those code cards will no longer be found in Prerelease Packs.
Instead, players who register for Prerelease with their Wizards Accounts will automatically be provided the reward for attending Prerelease in their in-game inboxes within two weeks! Be sure to communicate this with your players early and often, and direct them to register for a Wizards Account if they don't have one.
With Aetherdrift Prerelease, the Wizards Play Network team is testing a new way for stores in North America, Latin America, and the EMEA region to receive Prerelease Packs. Instead of an allocation from one distributor, you may preorder as many Aetherdrift Prerelease Packs as you see fit from any authorized distributor.
Why are we doing this test? We want you to be able to scale your Prerelease offerings as you see fit to best meet the needs of your business.
Your free-of-charge Prerelease prizing boosters will still be determined as they have been in the past: based on past reported Prerelease attendance. You will receive this product from your preferred distributor, which was detailed to you via email.
This change is a test, and we will be keen to hear your feedback as we make plans for future sets.
Last year, we upgraded Open House, turning it into Magic Academy: Learn to Play and Magic Academy: Deck Building. We're thrilled to announce that Magic Academy is here to stay for the foreseeable future.
For the Aetherdrift play season, you'll continue using the Darksteel Colossus promo as a gift-with-purchase for any Starter product or 6 Play Boosters across either event. English-language stores will be sent additional Welcome Decks to support their events.
Please look forward to a refreshed promo and additional Welcome Decks for Magic Academy with Tarkir: Dragonstorm.
Event scheduling for Aetherdrift is open today, so don't let it pass you by: open Wizards EventLink right now and get your events from Prerelease and beyond on the calendar right away.
