We know that enrolling players who don't use the Magic Companion app can add extra steps at the counter—especially during busy event times. To help keep registration moving, players can now enroll through the Store and Event Locator using an event QR code or event code, with no Companion app required.

We're also adding role selection for Dungeons & Dragons events, allowing participants to enroll as either a player or Dungeon Master.

Easier Event Enrollment—No Companion App Required

Players can now enroll in your events through the Store and Event Locator using the event's QR or event code.

From a mobile device, players can scan the event QR code with their device's camera. The code opens the Companion app if it's installed and up to date, or the Store and Event Locator if it isn't. Alternatively, they can log in to the Store and Event Locator (locator.wizards.com) with their Wizards Account, tap the sword icon near the top of the screen, then scan the QR code or manually enter the event code to enroll.

The Magic Companion app is not required and either enrollment method will function the same. This gives players a streamlined method to sign up for non-Magic events—or any event where they prefer not to use the app.

Dungeons & Dragons Role Selection

Participants enrolling in Dungeons & Dragons events will now be assigned one of two roles: Player or Dungeon Master. This designation will streamline event planning and setup to help you ensure the right balance of players and Dungeon Masters for a successful event. You can also manually edit these within Wizards EventLink.

How the role is selected depends on the enrollment method:

• Store and Event Locator or Magic Companion app enrollment: Participants select their own role when enrolling.
• Manual organizer enrollment: The organizer selects the participant's role on EventLink.

Adding role selection will unlock deeper insights into event participation, helping us identify trends, improve planning, and better support successful D&D events.
