WPN stores in the United States and Canada that meet WPN minimum metrics requirements by December 1, 2023, will receive Festival in a Box to use for a special event.
As a special thank you to stores in the United States and Canada that meet minimum WPN metrics requirements by December 1, 2023, we’ll be sending you Festival in a Box. From January 5 – 21, 2024, you can use this product to run an out-of-the-box Draft event to ring in the new year: Festival in a Store!
The WPN Festival in a Store event is part of our celebration of MagicCon! This includes a Magic Arena promotion that rewards event winners with their own Festival in a Box, plus our announcement of upcoming MagicCon events in 2024. Your store can take part in the celebration by hosting a mini-MagicCon Draft event of your own.
Please note that you must use the Festival in a Box you receive for this event only. You may not sell your Festival in a Box or use it for any other purpose. If you received the materials for this program but are unable to run the event between January 5-21, you may run it at a later date using the "Create Custom" scheduling tool in EventLink.
Festival in a Box has been available at MagicCon events throughout 2023 and available online in limited quantities, and now we’re bringing it to WPN stores. Each box supports a Festival in a Store play experience for eight players. Here’s a complete breakdown of the product contents:
Run your event in the same way this product has been used at MagicCon events throughout 2023. As these events only serve eight players, you can consider running qualifiers or having some seats dedicated to your regular customers as part of a repeat play loyalty program.
You’ll begin by setting aside the 24 Booster Packs of the Chaos Grab Bag. These packs will make up the draft pool and all other contents will be used as prizing. Your eight players will “Rotisserie Draft” the 24 Booster Packs of the Chaos Grab Bag to determine their starting three packs.
In case you're unfamiliar, here are the basics of a "Rotisserie Draft":
When each player has three Draft Boosters in hand, you can begin a Chaos Draft. Run the event as you would regularly, using our Festival in a Store Draft event template in Wizards EventLink. You’ll run three rounds of a Swiss tournament and determine the winner of your Festival in a Box Draft!
For prizing, we recommend each player receives a Mystery Booster Convention Edition Booster for participation and one additional Booster for each round won. Your undefeated event winner will earn the Relentless Rats Non-Foil Secret Lair Promo, four bonus Mystery Booster Convention Edition Boosters, and the Dan Frazier's Mox Box Foil Etched Secret Lair Drop.
For an event with such incredible prizing, be sure to set the event entry fee accordingly. Use Festival in a Box for this event and not for any other purpose.
To take part in this epic promotion, you have until December 1, 2023 to meet minimum WPN Metrics requirements.
All WPN members must meet a baseline metric requirement to remain part of the network—currently, the minimum requirements are 250 Tickets and 5 Engaged Players annually. On March 1, 2024, the snapshot metrics will no longer be in effect; only your live metrics will be used to determine promo and product allocations.
If your store is WPN Premium, to qualify for the WPN Festival in a Box promotion, you only need to meet minimum WPN metric requirements by December 1, not the WPN Premium metric requirements.
All Magic: The Gathering events reported through Wizards EventLink, including At-Home Prerelease events, will count towards play metrics: Tickets, Engaged Players, and Activated Players. You can check your WPN Metrics at the bottom of the weekly WPN newsletter or by contacting Retail Support. Be sure you are reporting all your events using the correct event template.
We hope you’re looking forward to running your own Festival in a Store!
