Get players invested in the Magic story with eye-catching cards that show what happens after the downfall of Elesh Norn.
The conclusion of the Phyrexian story arc is behind us—the battle has been won, but not without loss. In March of the Machine: The Aftermath, players can learn the fate of beloved but desparked Planeswalkers, legendary creatures, and the planes themselves in the weeks following the climactic events of March of the Machine.
Today, we'll review what your players can expect from the product, as well as strategies to make the most of this new release.
March of the Machine: The Aftermath is the resolution of the Phyrexian story arc; each Booster is packed with lore and story, giving players a complete look at who's gone, who remains, and what's next for each of them.
For players in your community new to Magic for this release, you might direct them to the Magic Story Podcast to get started. Hosts Harless Snyder and Natalie Kreider talk through each chapter of the Phyrexian story arc, beginning with Dominaria United.
The Magic Story Podcast is an easy way to get new players up-to-speed on the story behind the cards, and it may even encourage players to kick-start a collection binder with their favorite story moments from March of the Machine: The Aftermath.
The product lineup for March of the Machine: The Aftermath is smaller than a full set release: players can purchase 5-card Epilogue Boosters, 6-card Collector Boosters, or the Bundle, which contains 8 Epilogue Boosters plus additional lands and accessories.
Epilogue Boosters are not designed for limited format play like Draft Boosters are but may be a fun addition to a casual March of the Machine Booster Draft or Sealed event. The set reintroduces some of the mechanics from Magic's past that players can use for their decks. They may find something at release to surprise their opponents in a Standard face-off during your Store Championship.
Another unique opportunity presented by these cards comes from the many desparked Planeswalkers—many of these Planeswalkers are now Legends, meaning players can pick any of them up to be their Commander. You and your players can always reference the card image gallery to catch up on the latest card releases.
Encourage your community to get creative with the new cards coming with the microset; maybe some will find an unlikely combination that pulls their whole strategy together.
No matter which Booster your players open—Epilogue or Collector—there is bound to be something incredible inside. There are no Common rarity cards coming out with March of the Machine: The Aftermath; every card in the set will be Uncommon rarity or higher.
In addition, the Planar Booster Fun frames from March of the Machine will be available in March of the Machine: The Aftermath—except for cards from New Phyrexia; the plane itself was destroyed in the battle for the Multiverse, so no cards from that plane appear in the set. Even so, players can look forward to finding any other Planar Booster Fun card treatment in every March of the Machine: The Aftermath Epilogue Booster!
The release of March of the Machine: The Aftermath will be here before you know it—so be sure to utilize our marketing materials and product pages as you prepare yourself to market each product to your community.
