More opportunities to compete at high levels, play for prizes, and gather with gamers from all over are coming in 2025 with the launch of the Magic: The Gathering Spotlight Series.
Recently, the Magic Spotlight Series was announced, providing players with more opportunities to compete at high levels, play for prizes, and gather with gamers from across the globe in 2025.
The Magic Spotlight Series is an exciting, new, large open tournament series taking place in cities around the world. It's a multi-day celebration that spotlights a specific theme at each event, and elements of that theme influence the weekend's events.

The Magic Spotlight main event is a two-day open tournament with $50,000 in prize money awarded to top finishers. The main event features one format over the course of two days of competition, starting on Saturday.
Everyone who signs up may compete in as many of the nine rounds on Saturday as they wish, but only players with 18 match points or better may compete in the second day of competition, on Sunday.
Promo cards will be available to each Magic Spotlight main event participant in non-foil; there will be different promo cards for each event. The top 128 players from each Magic Spotlight main event will earn a traditional foil version of the promo card.
In 2025, there will be eight Magic Spotlight Series events in total:
Magic Spotlight Series stops will also feature side events, vendors, special guests, and more at the discretion of the hosting organizer. As more information for each Magic Spotlight event becomes public, please refer to the organizer’s event information page for all the details.

The first Magic Spotlight Series in the U.S. will use Standard Constructed for its events, so having regularly scheduled competitive-focused Standard events on your calendar—like Standard Showdown leading into Store Championship—gives your players the space to practice with their peers and refine their decks before heading off to compete at Magic Spotlight Series events.
