Draft Night debuts in January 2026 with Lorwyn Eclipsed, inviting players back to a beloved plane and into a new and easy Limited play experience. Executive Producer Mike Turian explains, "We wanted to use the new year as a time to look at our product lineup and bring some updates that make it easier for stores to reach the ever-growing Magic audience."

Draft Night isn't just a one-off experiment. "Every major Magic release for the foreseeable future will include a Draft Night," says Mike. "We see this as a product that can grow the community and make it easier for stores to bring players together."

"We wanted a product that would fill a great product space," says Mike, "bigger than a Bundle but smaller than a full Play Booster display—something you can just grab, take home, and play right away. "Pick-Two Draft is faster, works great with smaller groups, and gives players the excitement of being able to draft a great combo of cards when they show up—like peanut butter and chocolate. In traditional Draft, there are those moments where you have both the peanut butter and the chocolate in one pack, and you wish you could take them both. But you take the peanut butter, knowing that chocolate's not coming back around. Well, with Pick-Two Draft, now you can take both."

Draft Night was also born out of a desire to expand Limited play. "We were looking for ways to reinvigorate Limited play after the pandemic and bring it to a new audience," Mike says. "It's about finding ways to get people playing together again, tapping into what Magic has always done extremely well, in a relaxed and casual game-night setting."

Draft Night with its four-player design is also a natural fit for many established Commander groups.

"If you're a Commander player, and you're used to getting together with your group each week, this gives you an easy way to switch things up," says Mike. "We hear so often from people how much they like playing with their established play groups. Here, you pick up a Draft Night, and boom, you have a draft night—it's literally in the name. It's still familiar, still social, it's just a fresh kind of fun."
