WPN Benefits: MTG Arena

WPN features in MTG Arena connect players' time in the game with play at your store. See how each one works and what it means for you.

How MTG Arena Connects to Your Store

Players already move between Friday Night Magic at your store and matches at home in MTG Arena.

WPN features in MTG Arena connect the two. Players get more ways to keep up with the stores they care about, find upcoming events, hear from your team, and earn MTG Arena achievements for playing in eligible events at your store. Some depend on your store's tier, and most run on tools your team already knows, with no separate setup.

Here’s what this article covers:

  • The Favorite Stores screen
  • WPN Arena Achievements
  • Arena Broadcast Messaging
  • Arena Carousel Access
  • WPN Arena Achievements – Legendary Stores

Your Store in a Player's Favorites

Players favorite WPN stores in the Magic Companion app or the Store & Event Locator. The Favorite Stores screen in MTG Arena gathers those stores in one place. Players find it by opening their profile and selecting the Favorite Stores tab at the bottom. They can't add or remove favorites there, but it's where they manage their message and carousel settings, since favoriting a store doesn't turn either one on.

The Favorite Stores screen is a supporting feature available to every player, and any WPN store can appear there regardless of tier.

Players Earn Rewards for Playing at Your Store

Your players get something extra in MTG Arena for coming to your events. WPN Arena Achievements, a Tier 1 benefit, adds a set of MTG Arena achievements players earn by entering WPN events at your store. They only unlock through in-person WPN play, and most of them count at any WPN store. (Legendary Stores get an extra set of their own, covered below.)

You don't have to set anything up. As long as a player enters your event with the same Wizards Account they use for MTG Arena, their progress will be waiting the next time they log in. If someone asks where to look, send them to Achievements in MTG Arena, then the Wizards Play Network Achievements group.

A couple of achievements do care how you set up the event in Wizards EventLink. Format achievements go by the event's Format field, so a Commander night scheduled under a different format won't count toward the Commander ones. For the Prerelease achievement, schedule your Prerelease using the designated Prerelease template. A custom event you've simply named "Prerelease" won't count.

There's also one for favoriting a WPN store. Players do that in the Magic Companion app or the Store & Event Locator, so if a player asks, that's where to send them.

So, Friday night doesn't end when the last round does. It follows players home and shows up the next time they open MTG Arena, which is one more nudge to come back to your tables.

Arena Broadcast Messaging

Arena Broadcast Messaging is a Tier 4 benefit, separate from Companion Broadcast Messaging at Tier 3. Eligible stores receive it without taking additional action. The messages your store already sends through Wizards EventLink also reach players in MTG Arena, in the WPN Store Messages tab of the MTG Arena Inbox. It's the same EventLink workflow you use for Companion Broadcast Messaging, so there's no new tool to learn.

Players decide for themselves whether your messages reach them in MTG Arena. The setting is off by default, so players who don't turn it on won't see your messages there. If a player asks how, point them to the "Allow WPN Messages" toggle on the Favorite Stores screen. That's also where they can mute any single store.

MTG Arena gives you another way to get event reminders in front of players. Someone who hasn't made it to Friday Night Magic lately may still see your message while checking MTG Arena. Each message links to your store's page on the Store & Event Locator, so it's easy for them to find their way back to you.

Read WPN Benefits: Broadcast Messaging for the full walkthrough, including how to create, preview, send, and schedule messages.

Arena Carousel Access is a Tier 5 benefit. Eligible stores receive it without taking additional action. The carousel is the rotating banner on the MTG Arena home screen, and this benefit can place an upcoming event from your store there for players who have favorited your store and turned on "Allow WPN Carousels" on the Favorite Stores screen. That's a separate setting from store messages. Players can also mute individual stores, which stops both messages and carousel events from that store.

The carousel text comes straight from your store name, event name, and start time, and it can't be customized, so keep those details clear and current in Wizards EventLink.

WPN Arena Achievements – Legendary Stores

Legendary Store status recognizes WPN stores that hold Tier 6 in both the current quarter and the quarter before it. Current WPN Premium stores hold it for Q4 2026 as part of the transition. It sits alongside your tier, and a few benefits are reserved for stores that hold it. A store can be Tier 6 without holding Legendary Store status.

WPN Arena Achievements – Legendary Stores is tied to Legendary Store status. Eligible stores receive it without taking additional action. Players earn an extra set of MTG Arena achievements by entering events at a Legendary Store or favoriting one.

What Your Store Can Do

Keep your public store information current in the Store & Event Locator, and use the WPN Dashboard to check your store's current tier and the benefits shown for your store.

When you set up events in Wizards EventLink, be sure to use the Wizards-provided template for Prereleases, set each event's format accurately, and use clear event names. Those details feed the MTG Arena achievements and the carousel.

Players manage their own favorites and settings, but they may ask you how. They favorite your store in the Magic Companion app or the Store & Event Locator, not in MTG Arena. Then, on the Favorite Stores screen in MTG Arena, they turn on "Allow WPN Messages" for store messages and "Allow WPN Carousels" for carousel events. It's worth a mention in event announcements or when players ask about upcoming events.

If the tier or benefits shown on your dashboard don't match what you expect, contact WPN Support.
