About Magic Celebration Event

EMEA Update: To ensure as many stores as possible in the EMEA region have their promotional materials on hand for the event, the Magic Celebration Event has new dates: July 14 – 16. You can reschedule your event in Wizards EventLink using our new event template. If you’ve already scheduled, be sure to also cancel your existing event.

In addition, dice sets may be delayed to certain stores across the EMEA region—if your dice sets do not arrive in time for your event, you may issue an IOU to eligible participating players to return to pick up their dice set once they arrive at your store. As a reminder, WPN stores should expect to receive 30 sets of dice; WPN Premium stores should expect to receive 90 sets. Dice sets will require assembly with the The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth™ dice bag before distributing to players.

The Fellowship joins The Gathering in a big way this summer: WPN stores around the globe can host a The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth™ themed Magic Celebration event from July 7 – 9. This event will bring brand-new and long-time players together to enjoy games of Jumpstart in a familiar setting from the epic fantasy novels written by J.R.R. Tolkien.

You can use the Magic Celebration event to encourage your players to create their own Wizards Account. With a Wizards Account, players can log into MTG Arena, use the Companion app at your store, and more. During the event, help new players understand the benefits of joining, and make sure they know how to find future events at your store.

Player Participation Requirements:

• Create an individual Wizards Account
• Find their local WPN store using the Store & Event Locator
• Register to play in your Magic Celebration Event using their individual Wizards Account using the Magic: The Gathering Companion App—event participants who register with a guest account do not qualify for the dice, Arena deck, or WPN Premium-exclusive Photoflyer souvenir rewards.
• Purchase two packs of Jumpstart and play three casual rounds at the hosting WPN store

Players who complete the participation requirements above earn the following rewards:

At WPN Stores:

• Limited-edition, collectible LTR Dice Set available for the first 30 players to register in the Magic Celebration event. Collectible dice set includes three six-sided dice (d6) which can be used as Magic counters or for any other board game. Dice sets feature the LTR set symbol and Elven Planeswalker fork.
• Bring-a-Friend promo Thought Vessel for bringing a friend into a WPN store; both friends get the promo!
• A special MTG Arena LTR-themed Preconstructed Deck
• Players must have a registered MTG Arena account using the same credentials as their Wizards account.
• Preconstructed decks will arrive in players’ MTG Arena inboxes beginning July 23, 2023.
• Promotion does not apply in select regions where Arena codes are invalid.

At WPN Premium stores:

In addition to the above, players at WPN Premium stores can participate in a Photoflyer souvenir photo experience. Players can take a souvenir photo at the event check-in table, which is also a playable 1/1 Human token.

Promotional Item Support:

Players who register for the event using their individual Wizards Account and play 3 rounds of Jumpstart are eligible to receive promo materials at the event.

• 100 Magic Celebration Invitation Flyers
• 30 sets of dice to support your Magic Celebration events.
• Promotional dice sets provided to the first 30 participants at the Magic Celebration event; if your events are smaller, your store can run additional events
• Provide one set of three six-sided dice with velvet bag per participant who meets the requirements.
• Promotional items will be shipped ahead of the event.
• Bring-a-Friend promo Thought Vessel should be continue to used for players who bring a friend to the event.

WPN Premium Promotional Item Support:

• 200 Magic Celebration Invitation Flyers
• 90 sets of dice to support more Magic Celebration Events.
• Promotional dice sets provided to the first 30 participants at each Magic Celebration event; if your events are smaller, your store can run additional events
• Photoflyer activation kit with camera (AA batteries not included), instruction card, 8 packs of Polaroid film (can support 160 photos), and 160 souvenir photo frames.
• Promotional items will be shipped ahead of the event.
• Bring-a-Friend promo Thought Vessel should be continue to be used for players who bring a friend to the event.

Store Setup Details

All WPN stores should distribute their invitation flyers to all players interested in The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth in their store.

You'll receive bulk quantities of the colored d6 dice and the dice bags separately. Store associates will need to assemble your dice sets. Place three d6 of the same color into one maroon dice bag to create one dice set.

These d6 dice match the Spindown dice found in the Prerelease Pack, Bundle, and Gift Bundle products respectively. Encourage collectors to complete their set by purchasing these products or trading with friends.

WPN Premium stores will receive 3 times the amount of dice sets, as well as a Photoflyer souvenir photo kit.

Please refer to the instructions inside the Photoflyer kit. Get ready to greet your players at your Magic Celebration event check-in with the opportunity to take a photo and turn it into a souvenir 1/1 Human token they can play with in all their games of Magic, along with their new dice set.

You will need to have AA batteries to use your Magic: The Gathering Instax Mini Polaroid camera before the event, preload a pack of Polaroid film into the camera, and have your Photoflyer frames ready to go.

Additional Details

If your store ends up with extra promotional materials such as dice sets, your store may use them to support Magic: The Gathering play events or promotions in accordance with the Surplus Promo policy. Promotional materials may never be sold under any circumstances.

Note for WPN Premium stores: please carefully store your Magic: The Gathering branded Instax Mini Polaroid camera provided with your Photoflyer kit. It will be used in future marketing activations you won’t want to miss out on!

Metrics Information

Metrics will be reactivated with at least 6 months' notice. At this point in time, we do not have a current anticipated date for metrics reactivation. Until the end of the grace period, promo and product allocations will be based on live metrics or the Q1 2020 metric snapshot, whichever is higher. 

As always, all Magic: The Gathering events reported through Wizards EventLink will count towards play metrics: Tickets, Engaged Players, and Activated Players.
