What Is Standard Showdown?

Standard Showdown is a weekly Standard format play program where players gather to compete in tournaments using their Standard decks for winner promos. The event is positioned at a strategic sweet spot for in-store play: it is engaging for competitive players while still being welcoming to casual players.

Standard Showdown is an excellent program for creating repeat-play momentum at your store. The weekly cadence in the Standard format encourages players both new and seasoned to return to try new deck builds, test their skills, or just enjoy regular play. Though Standard Showdown doesn’t feed into Premier Play events, it can be a training ground for players interested in tackling higher level Magic tournament play, including Regional Championship Qualifiers.

Schedule and Promote Your Events

Schedule one Standard Showdown event per week in Wizards EventLink for September 26 through November 13. Don’t forget you can use the event QR codes available in Wizards EventLink to make it even easier for players to register.

Promote your events by using the marketing resources we have available, including downloadable Magic: The Gathering | Marvel’s Spider-Man digital marketing assets.
