About Open House

Taking place on release weekend, Open House is an space for new-to-Magic players to come to your store and learn how to play Magic: The Gathering in a friendly social environment. Your engaged players in the community are welcome to join the fun, bring their own friends along to teach, or even become a mentor to newer players in your community.

You can run demonstrations using the Starter Kit and send players off to play casual games using those decks, or pair new players with experienced mentors in Two-Headed Giant faceoffs using Jumpstart 2022 packs. Open House is a key opportunity for your store to engage with a fresh wave of new players and encourage them to return to your store throughout the season.

Format: New Player Event (new format), Jumpstart

Rules Enforcement Level: Any

Pairing Method: Player-List Only

Promo Support:

• Participation promo
• Sticker Sheet featuring Wilds of Eldraine and evergreen Magic: The Gathering art (for interested participating players, while supplies last)
• Bring-a-Friend promo (both new players and their experienced friends receive the promo)

Metrics Information

Metrics will be reactivated with at least 6 months' notice. At this point in time, we do not have a current anticipated date for metrics reactivation. Until the end of the grace period, promo and product allocations will be based on live metrics or the Q1 2020 metric snapshot, whichever is higher.

As always, all events reported through Wizards EventLink, including Webcam and At-Home events, will count towards play metrics: Tickets, Engaged Players, and Activated Players.
