Today, our Japanese team is announcing special news for Outlaws of Thunder Junction. To celebrate the set launch, we made a special collaboration with the beloved Japanese animation, Cowboy Bebop!

Get Promo Cards at Standard Showdown

Starting August 2, your players can earn a Cowboy Bebop promo card by winning weekly Standard Showdown events held at WPN stores. If your store receives extra promos, you may hand them out at your discretion at Standard Showdown events throughout the corresponding set season. So, these promos work just like the Omenpath Basic Lands!

There are five special promo cards, all of them traditional foil. Each of them will be distributed during specific time windows as follows, with the first promo arriving alongside Bloomburrow marketing materials:

August 2, 2024 – September 19, 2024: Ossification

September 27, 2024 – November 7, 2024: Disdainful Stroke

November 15, 2024 – January 30, 2025: Go for the Throat

February 7, 2025 – March 2, 2025: Lightning Strike

April 4, 2025 – May 29, 2025: Snakeskin Veil

Distributing postcards and running a raffle at WPN stores in Japan where players may win card sleeves and a playmat.

From April 26 to March 31, 2025, you'll receive a limited number of special postcards—five types, featuring the five pieces of art as the promo cards above.

Provide these to your players for each 3,000 yen purchase (tax included) of Magic: The Gathering sealed products that were released after January 2021. The number of postcards is limited, and the distribution will end once supplies run out.

Also, 1,000 total people will win the raffle—they'll know if they see a special code on the back of their postcard. Winners of the raffle will get a special playmat and card sleeves on which is printed the same art as the promo cards.

At the festive Magic event called Players Convention Aichi 2024, which will be held on May 25 and 26 in Tokoname, Aichi, Japan, we are going to distribute a limited number of special playmats to celebrate the Opening Homage Trailer.

What is Cowboy Bebop?

A space jazz action story about a group of four bounty hunters and a dog.

Plot

The series is set in a future in which human activity has expanded out to Saturn. However, the power of the police was not able to reach everywhere; violent crimes were rampant, and the bounty system was reinstated to combat this. Spike and Jet are "cowboys" aiming for the prize. The spaceship Bebop continues to hunt bounties and travels around the solar system, involving strangers such as the female gambler Faye, the genius hacker Ed, and the "data dog" Ein who has human-like intelligence.

Cowboy Bebop is a science fiction action animation featuring stylish visuals and music. "Bebop" is a style of jazz that was popular in the 1940s and emphasizes improvisational arrangements. As the title suggests, each episode revolves around the intertwining of various characters, with each episode having a different taste, ranging from serious to comedic. A playful sci-fi entertainment piece for adults.
