Spring is just around the corner and with it comes the next entry in our Magic Presents: event series, Spring Flourishes. This unique program features a fun twist on drafting bringing players into your store and cracking packs.

If you haven’t yet, be sure to schedule this program in Wizards Eventlink. Stores that do not have at least one Spring Flourishes event scheduled by February 14, 2025 will not receive promotional materials and will be unable to offer the event.

About Magic Presents: Spring Flourishes

We announced Spring Flourishes earlier this year and showed off the special participation promos provided by the Secret Lair team. These seven promo cards are the Magic-themed versions of the Universes Beyond cards originally released in the Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Secret Lair Drop in 2023. We recommend allowing players to choose which promo they’d like to receive, allowing them to collect their favorites across multiple events.

Here’ the gameplay twist—players begin each game with this emblem in play:

You may recognize the effect from the card Rites of Flourishing, which inspired the event. This gameplay twist will make games faster, get players to more powerful cards quicker, and give them a fun twist on existing limited formats to bring new life to your in-store drafts. Other than that, the event runs identically to a normal Booster Draft.

Preparing for the Event

You can schedule any number of events between April 25 and May 25 and participating players earn a promo for every event they play in. With five weekends of availability to run the event there is ample opportunity to mix it up with a few different sets. Consider running a different set each week.

Tarkir: Dragonstorm is a natural set to use for this event as it will be the most recent release, but you can use any limited format viable Play or Draft Boosters you have on hand—a great opportunity to move through backlist product from the previous year, from Murders at Karlov Manor to Innistrad Remastered.

And don’t forget to showcase any new releases at that time. Past Magic Presents events have proven to not only bring in regulars but also lapsed players and players that only typically show up for Prerelease. Capitalize on this foot traffic by showcasing easy grab products like Bundles and Commander Decks.

Now’s the time to think about how you’ll talk to your players about the special rules and promos provided by the Secret Lair Team. It’s never too early start planning and promoting!
