The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth™ may be the most anticipated set release of the summer—and Prerelease will be here before you can blink. Starting June 16, players can head to WPN stores around the world and party like it's Bilbo's eleventy-first birthday.
You'll have players of all stripes visiting your space to figure out how to get their hands on all the incredible cards they've seen online—and today, we'll cover each treatment and share where to find them.
Found in: Draft, Set, Jumpstart, and Collector Boosters
Fans of cartography and map art will be delighted by these full-art map basic lands, evocative of the incredible work of Pauline Baynes, illustrator of one of the first maps of Middle-earth.
Each full-art map basic land shows off a different location featured in the stories of The Lord of the Rings and can be found in Draft, Set, Jumpstart, and Collector Boosters—and in Collector Boosters, the Middle-earth Map Land will be a traditional foil.
Found in: Draft, Set, and Collector Boosters
The Ring Frame showcase treatment is a stylish take on 30 legendary cards, showing off incredible moments in the beloved story.
Each Ring Frame treatment has beautiful Tengwar letterform circling the art, and the frame itself is colored to align with the color identity of the legendary card itself, making them aesthetically pleasing additions to any deck.
Found in: Draft, Set, and Collector Booster Displays
Each The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Draft, Set, and Collector Booster display includes a traditional foil Realms and Relics Box Topper card inside, a powerful and exciting Magic card with artwork and treatment your players will find right at home with The Lord of the Rings.
There are 30 total Realms and Relics Box Topper cards, each either a borderless mythic rare land or artifact card featuring the set code (LTC) and set symbol of The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Commander cards. These Realms and Relics cards also appear in Collector Boosters, both in non-foil and surge foil.
The Buy-a-Box promo, Lórien Brooch (Trailblazer's Boots), is also a Realms and Relics card, available to your players for purchase of the following:
Found in: Draft, Set, and Collector Boosters
The nine human kings who each bore one of the Nine Rings for Mortal Men and were turned into undead spirits—the Nazgûl—will also be featured in the set, with nine different art variations for players to find across Draft, Set, and Collector Boosters to add to their decks.
Above are just a few examples of the art players can find—each of the nine art pieces will exist as variants on the same Uncommon card, which causes the Ring to tempt the player as soon as a Nazgûl card enters the battlefield.
Borderless Art Found in: Draft, Set, and Collector Boosters
Extended Art Found in: Collector Boosters
Fans can enjoy the full-art beauty of locations throughout Middle-earth with Borderless Art Lands like Mount Doom and The Shire.
Extended art cards make a return for The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth, allowing players to get a full look at the gorgeous art on each of the cards found with this treatment.
Each of these card treatments immerses your players in the story of The Lord of the Rings while they enjoy games of Magic, and our next treatment truly transports players right to Middle-earth.
Found in: Bundle and Bundle: Gift Edition (one of seven), Draft and Set Boosters (five of seven), Collector Boosters (all seven)
Scene cards can be placed next to each other to paint a picture of memorable moments for fans of The Lord of the Rings. Scenes can be made of two-by-two cards, like the iconic moment on Mount Doom found in the Bundle and Bundle: Gift Edition. But that's only the beginning; scenes may be up to six-by-three cards—an epic 18 cards to show an epic scene at that scale.
There are seven total scenes available in June, five of which may appear in The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Draft and Set Boosters, with all seven available in Collector Boosters.
In November, four additional scenes (each three-by-two cards) arrive to add to the incredible sights found in The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth. Keep an eye out for more details later this year.
Found in: Collector Boosters
Your players will be eager to seek Sol Ring, a Commander staple, in a whole new way. Sol Ring cards with art modeled after Elven, Dwarven, and Human rings from the novels, and text written in Tengwar script can be found in Collector Boosters, in both traditional foil and nonfoil.
The traditional foil versions of these specialized Sol Rings will be serialized—there are 300 Elven Sol Rings, 700 Dwarven Sol Rings, and 900 Human Sol Rings, as those most familiar with the story may have guessed. The nonfoil versions will not be serialized, and there will be 3,000 Elven Sol Rings, 7,000 Dwarven Sol Rings, 9,000 Human Sol Rings.
Found in: a single English-language The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth™ Collector Booster.
Serialized as the only one of one, this is a traditional foil card printed in the Black Speech of Sauron using Tengwar letterforms and can only be found in a single English-language The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Collector Booster.
A Ring-bearer has found the 1:1 serialized The One Ring! You won’t find this exceptional card in packs anymore:
As part of the celebration of this legendary set, we created a card befitting The One Ring—a 1:1 serialized traditional foil version of The One Ring card printed in the Black Speech of Sauron using Tengwar letterforms. Though the "Precious" 1:1 serialized The One Ring has been found, the adventure with The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth continues!
The One Ring (Serialized 001 of 001) is a variant of The One Ring Mythic Rare card from the main set, features a raised gold foil treatment applied to the frame, art, and text written in Black Speech. The Serialized 1 of 1 Ring is not a mechanically unique version; it functions the same way as The One Ring. The Serialized 1 of 1 Ring card is available only in EN Collector Boosters.
