Modern Horizons 2: First Look

May 6, 2021 | 1 min to read

This legendary summer kicks off with Modern Horizons 2 Prerelease, starting June 11! This set is only the beginning of a Magic-packed summer, including the return of the Love Your Local Game Store sales promotion, the release of Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, and more!

To get started, here's the first taste of Modern Horizons 2 so you can start telling your customers and build hype for the set.

Modern Horizons 2 is the perfect deep dive for long-time Magic fans, with New-to-Modern reprints (including the Buy-a-Box Promo), showcase sketch cards like Urza's Saga above, the return of fetch lands, and more.

Modern Horizons 2 Buy-a-Box Promo: Retro-Frame Sanctum Prelate

Two things about this card make it an extra enticing Buy-a-Box Promo:

  • It's not found in any Modern Horizons 2 boosters

  • It will be new to Modern

Sanctum Prelate will become legal in Modern on Modern Horizons 2 release day, June 18! Plus, Sanctum Prelate isn’t found in any other Modern Horizons 2 product! Make sure your players know the only way they can get Sanctum Prelate from Modern Horizons 2 is by buying a box from you!

If you’re allocated more Buy-a-Box Promos than Prerelease Early Sale Promotion boxes, keep using your Buy-a-Box Promos as a sales incentive into Modern Horizons 2's release.

You can give out Sanctum Prelate for sales of the following products:

  • Set Booster Display

  • Draft Booster Display

  • Collector Booster Display

  • 6 Prerelease Packs

The Prerelease Early Sale Promotion for Modern Horizons 2 varies by region:

North America: Local Language Set Boosters

Asia Pacific (excluding Korea and Taiwan): Local Language Set Boosters

Europe (excluding Spain, Italy, and Russia): Local Language Set Boosters

Japan: Local Language Set Boosters

Latin America (excluding Brazil): English Language Set Boosters

Brazil: Local Language Draft Boosters

Korea and Taiwan: Local Language Draft Boosters

Spain, Italy, and Russia: 50% Local Language Draft Boosters and 50% English Language Set Boosters

Expect a smaller allocation of Prerelease Early Sale Promotion boxes than you would see for a Standard set. WPN Premium members will receive an increased allocation.

Please note that your allocation of Prerelease Early Sale Promotion boxes for Modern Horizons 2 is also for event prizing.

Modern Horizons 2 Products: Prerelease Packs, Draft Boosters, Set Boosters, Collector Boosters, and Bundles

Modern Horizons 2 is the first non-Standard set to feature Prerelease Packs, so let your customers know they can take part in this Magic first at your store!

All Modern Horizons 2 products are now available on the Modern Horizons 2 product page.

While you wait for the big debut, schedule all your Modern Horizons 2 events. Running a remote Prerelease? Organize it with SpellTable beta, the first website designed exclusively for playing paper Magic remotely.

MH2 Prerelease events will be updated in Wizards EventLink automatically by May, 14. Any MH2 Prerelease event scheduled in the incorrect week will be moved back exactly one week.

Prerelease starts on June 11, and the data shows that scheduling your Prerelease at least a month out results in the biggest turnout!
