Store Championship

About Store Championship

Store Championship is a structured, in-store tournament program that follows many major Magic: The Gathering releases. It is an opportunity for your players to prove their mettle and earn commemorative promos. To allow your community to develop their decks and hone their skills, consider running additional Pioneer events leading up to Store Championship.

Scheduling: 1 event between February 25–March 5; use the Store Championship scheduling template

Format: Pioneer, Sealed Deck, or Booster Draft

Rules Enforcement Level: Regular or Competitive

Pairing Method: Swiss (with a cut to top-8 if event has 17+ player)

Promo Support:

  • Participation promos (quantity based on play metrics)

  • 8 Top-8 promos

  • 1 Winner promo

  • WPN Premium stores receive an extra set of the Top-8 and Winner promos in non-foil with their store’s name printed on the card. Both versions of each should be provided to qualifying players.

  • Promos will be included with your Phyrexia: All Will Be One seasonal promo kit

Additional Details

  • Store Championship events with 17+ players must cut to playoffs to cleanly determine a winner.

  • A certified judge is not required, but if you’d like to hire one for your event you can find resources for that on the Judge Academy website.

  • You do not have to cap your event based on how many participation promos you receive; participation promos should be provided first come, first served in order of event registration.

  • As always, you are welcome to add additional prizing to the event at your discretion.

  • If your event does not launch or you have extra participation promos the surplus promo policy will apply.

  • Metrics Information

Metrics will be reactivated with at least 6 months' notice. At this point in time, we do not have a current anticipated date for metrics reactivation. Until the end of the grace period, promo and product allocations will be based on live metrics or the Q1 2020 metric snapshot, whichever is higher.

As always, all events reported through Wizards EventLink, including Webcam and At-Home events, will count towards play metrics: Tickets, Engaged Players, and Activated Players.
