Starting November 24, your players will choose a faction and explore the verdant jungles of Ixalan.
Explorers of Ixalan offers a quick-to-play, standalone Magic: The Gathering experience that combines board game elements with the excitement of multiplayer Magic. Games take about 30 to 45 minutes and can support 2 to 4 players.
Fans of Commander and Planechase will especially love Explorers of Ixalan. It has the political layer of multiplayer Magic with exciting twists and surprises that consistently drive players toward action as they explore the world of Ixalan.
Players choose to play one of four 60-card decks representing the four factions from the Ixalan storyline.
They can take to the skies with the destructive vampire faction, the Legion of Dusk, a white/black midrange deck that excels at flying and life gain.
For players who want to live the life of a pirate, they can join the Brazen Coalition to plunder and attack their way to victory. This aggressive blue/black/red deck rewards attacking early, often, and repeatedly.
The clever Merfolk faction known as the River Heralds, utilizes the prowess mechanic in a deceptive blue/green deck.
And for those who just want to stomp around with dinosaurs, the Sun Empire is the deck for them. This white/red/green deck wants to ramp up as quickly as possible so its oversized dinosaurs can rule the battlefield.
During a game, players will discover locations and events from the Ixalan storyline by paying a mana cost and revealing tiles on the map.
Revealed tiles grant quests that provide a reward upon completion, sites that have on-going effects, and events that offer immediate, one-time benefits. The more tiles revealed, the closer players will get to discovering the Golden City of Orazca which offers great power to the one who claims it. Not all tiles are used in a single game, making each playthrough fresh and exciting.
