Get your store, staff, and community ready to jump into Foundations Prerelease and beyond with this guide!
Magic: The Gathering Foundations has something for every player in your community to love, no matter where they are in their Magic journey—from new player-friendly products to cards fit for supercharging a favorite deck.
It all begins at Prerelease: use this guide to get your store and staff ready for the Foundations era of Magic!
For Foundations, you'll be receiving two Buy-a-Box promos: Solemn Simulacrum and Sol Ring. Please keep in mind that you'll have fewer copies of Sol Ring than Solemn Simulacrum. Give these promos out on a first-come, first-served basis to encourage new players to jump into Foundations and pick up a display box of Play or Collector Boosters early.
On the marketing materials page, you'll find two variants of the Buy-a-Box social media images: one showcasing both cards, and the other only showing Solemn Simulacrum; once you have used up your Sol Ring promos but still have remaining Solemn Simulacrum promos, you can switch your online marketing posts to the asset that only highlights the latter.
Jumpstart remains an incredible format to get new players to try a game of Magic while delivering fun, exciting gameplay for experienced players. Foundations Jumpstart (J25) lets players dive straight into Magic; each pack has a special theme that ties the cards inside together.
With 46 themes available, that means players can experience thousands of combinations of themes, similar to releases like Jumpstart 2022.
Each Jumpstart Booster from Foundations Jumpstart contains 20 cards, including at least one new-to-Magic card and all the lands you need for your Jumpstart deck. You’ll also find a theme card in each booster, providing a decklist and the name of your booster’s theme.
Open House is going away—we’ve upgraded the new player experience with the Magic Academy two-part event series!
The first Magic Academy event, Learn to Play, is geared toward your newest Magic players or experienced fans who want to teach someone new. Once they've learned to play, your newest Planeswalkers will take their skills to the next level at Magic Academy: Deck Building. Players will use the Sealed Deck format to learn how to put a deck together using only cards they've opened, then share their decks with their opponents before playing friendly games of Magic!
Magic Academy events are supported by instructional video content meant to be played for participants in store at the start of each event, marketing materials, and promotional items. Be sure to read through our comprehensive overview article to prepare for each event.
Players can earn a Darksteel Colossus promo for purchasing the following:
With previews in full swing, the place to catch up on the latest card reveals is the card image gallery. Send it to your players or share with staff to keep on top of everything coming your way for the set!
You can filter the card image gallery by color, treatment, rarity, and even product where the card can be found. It is a powerful resource for you and your community as the cards continue to be revealed for the set.
The Collecting Foundations article is a key resource for players who want to dive into the nuts and bolts of, well, collecting Magic: The Gathering Foundations. It's a comprehensive piece that breaks down where to find every treatment, making it an invaluable resource for your most avid collectors.
Plus, you and your staff can utilize the article to have the best understanding of what cards are found where so you're just as prepared when new players and customers come to you with questions.
Magic: The Gathering Foundations Prerelease is this week! If your event isn't on the calendar yet, go to Wizards EventLink right now and get your store's celebration on the books.
