Will your players remain Upstanding Citizens, or will they take it all and go On the Run? Prep for Commander Party starting April 26!
In Thunder Junction, characters are flooding in from across the multiverse to claim their fortunes—and your Commander community will join the gang at Commander Party! You can schedule your Commander Party event any day between April 26 and May 2.
Use this checklist to get your store saddled up for success.
Outlaws of Thunder Junction Commander Party begins with each player as an Upstanding Citizen, faced with a group of locales that provide benefits during gameplay. At the beginning of their end step, players distribute two bounty counters among locales available to them.
When being an Upstanding Citizen gets too boring, players can choose to rob the locale and become On the Run. They'll still distribute bounty counters among locales at the beginning of their end step.
When robbing a locale, players take all bounty counters from that locale, flip their Upstanding Citizen card to On the Run, and then perform that locale's action. Robbing a locale can be activated only as a sorcery and only once each turn.
The bounty counters robbed from the player's chosen locale get added to their On the Run card; players must pay mana to shed bounty counters from their record and cannot rob a locale while On the Run. When players have no bounty counters, they may flip back to being an Upstanding Citizen.
As if being On the Run wasn't tough enough, when an Upstanding Citizen deals combat damage to an On the Run player, the On the Run player loses additional life and the Upstanding Citizen draws a card for their victory.
While your Commander Party materials arrived with your promotional materials in English, you're welcome to download the materials in additional languages as needed.
After your Commander pods are set up with the Play Aids and Party Cards, your next item to check off is your promos. Participating players receive a copy of the participation promo, Costly Plunder, while supplies last. Make sure those are ready to hand out prior to the start of the event.
Outlaws of Thunder Junction promises a packed play season, so encourage your Commander community to round up at your store again for more! Whether you utilize a QR code to share your calendar, pass out a printed flyer of upcoming events, or invite players to join a community social media group, repeat play habits are great to encourage among your player base.
Of course, it all starts with scheduling—so if you haven't got Commander Party (or any of the other Outlaws of Thunder Junction events) scheduled yet, stop reading this and go to Wizards EventLink right now!
