Buy-a-Box Promotion Gets Scary Good: Includes a Collector Booster

For Duskmourn: House of Horror, the Buy-a-Box promotion is good enough to give you chills: alongside the promo card, customers who purchase a sealed display of Duskmourn: House of Horror Play or Collector Boosters will also receive one Duskmourn: House of Horror Collector Booster, while supplies last.

This promotion is for in-store purchase or pick-up only; no Buy-a-Box promos or promotional Collector Boosters may be included in shipped orders at any time.

In your marketing kit, you will receive a quantity* of free-of-charge Collector Boosters to hand out to qualifying customers; please note, you will have fewer Duskmourn: House of Horror Collector Boosters than Buy-a-Box promos. Why? Urgency. They're a bonus for your earliest box sales, and a sample of the new product for your most engaged fans. Give them out on a first-come, first-served basis to encourage them to pick up their box as early as possible.

Players won’t want to risk missing their chance at a Collector Booster. It’s a great opportunity to thank players for buying early, and to get these new boosters into the hands of the fans they'll most appeal to!

*Please note, in Asia-Pacific, your quantity will be determined by past sales volume of Magic product in your store; in the rest of the world, your quantity will be determined by previous play metrics data.

Welcome Decks Are Back!

It's not a trick, we promise: Welcome Decks make a triumphant return beginning with Duskmourn: House of Horror! These 30-card decks can be provided to new players during events such as Open House or for walk-in demos any time. There are two decks in each box; one in an indicated color, and the other a random one of the five mana colors in Magic.

After the demo experience, the new player can take home this promotional deck free-of-charge to continue their Magic journey. They are an exceptional tool for new player acquisition, giving new players a peek at some Booster Fun (with 2 Booster Fun cards in each deck), plus a way to play against a friend or mentor until they get the hang of the rules.

New Trick or Treat Event Brings Goodie Bags and Chaos Sealed to Halloween

Halloween isn't all about shrieking thrills and haunting houses—it's also about offering a treat to those daring enough to take it. The Trick or Treat event is twofold: there is a play event, and a sales incentive promotion. To be eligible to receive your allocated free-of-charge prizing for this event, you must schedule your event in Wizards EventLink before August 23.

Trick Event Details

Celebrate Halloween with a spook-tacular event that invites players to participate in Sealed Deck events with a chilling twist. Participating players who dare to register for the Trick event with their Wizards Account will receive a Trick Event Goodie Bag containing:

  • 4 Duskmourn: House of Horror Play Boosters (provided from your store's stock)
  • 2 random Magic: The Gathering boosters, which may be Play, Draft, Set, Collector, or even Mystery Boosters (provided by Wizards of the Coast through your distributor).

WPN stores who schedule their events in Wizards EventLink before August 23 will be allocated one Collector Booster display and one additional display of Boosters to support participation prizing for 24 players (two boosters per player) for the event. WPN Premium stores who schedule on time will be allocated two Collector Booster displays and two additional displays of Boosters. Additional event and prizing product may be purchased through your distributor.

With their goodie bags in hand, players will then create a 40-card deck from the contents of the boosters and begin facing off in one-on-one matches with other participants! All players will begin the game with the following emblem, found in their bags: "Whenever an enchantment enters the battlefield under your control, choose one: Trick – create a treasure token. Treat – create a food token."

Treat Sales Promotion Details

Duskmourn: House of Horror is a set so scary it's good, but it's not all tricks at this event—starting October 31, you can use the same Trick Goodie Bags described above to reward customers who spend $75 USD (or equivalent in local currency) on sealed Magic: The Gathering product in-store.

WPN stores may choose how many goodie bags to use for each side of this program; any unused Goodie Bags from the Trick event should be used for the Treat sales promotion.

For the complete details, head over to the event page, which provides the deep dive on free-of-charge prize allocation.

Expanded Scheduling for Store Championship Continues

During the Bloomburrow season, we shared the extension of the Store Championship scheduling window. For Duskmourn: House of Horror's play season, the scheduling window is extended even further—you have nearly two months of available scheduling dates for this event. This allows you to position your Store Championship in the month where it works best for your community.

Whether you want to encourage a challenge right at the start of the season for eager deck builders or place it at the end to have Standard Showdown ramp players up and give them time to refine their strategy, the choice is entirely yours. You can always review the event pages for additional details—bookmark it if you need to keep it handy!

Commander Decks Contain New Archenemy Cards

You may hear your players talking about the inclusion of Archenemy in the Duskmourn: House of Horror Commander Decks. This three-on-one way to play gives players a fun opportunity to band together against a common enemy.

For those brimming with questions, direct them to DailyMTG, where Gavin Verhey has a comprehensive article about Archenemy in Duskmourn: House of Horror.
