Looking to switch things up? Here’s what to know when changing your preferred distributor.
From Prerelease kits to specialty releases, preferred distributors play a key role for WPN retailers. When the time comes to update your preferences, the WPN Retail Support team can help make it happen.
Below, we will talk about how to make this change and what you will need to consider when making the update.
The process is straightforward:
While the process is straightforward, there are some things to consider when submitting your update request.
This means your distributor change will not have a material effect on any products with release dates or distributor lock dates already passed. Keep an eye on official WPN email communications and the WPN website for the distributor lock date details.
This also means that if your store joined the WPN between a distributor lock date and the product in question’s release, you would not have a specific allocation with your distributor.
This means that if the distributor is willing and able to provide the product, you are welcome to pursue any official distribution channel for additional product regardless of who your preferred distributor may be.
That way, if your store entered the Wizards Play Network after the distributor lock date passed for an upcoming Prerelease, you may pursue official distribution channels to get product for your store. WPN stores that secure product through official distribution channels by Prerelease are welcome to use that product for those events.
For Prerelease allocations, we may have some flexibility to adjust your allocation if it feels too low for your expected demand. If you'd like to request an increase, please contact us as soon as possible after the initial allocation email is sent and no later than the distributor lock date. The earlier we receive the request, the better chance we have to grant your store an increase.
Keep in mind, many products do not have a set allocation through Wizards of the Coast. For those products, you can (and should) use any official distribution channels available to you to get product on the shelves.
You can find a list of all distributors available in your region here. Be sure to keep up with regular WPN communications and WPN website articles to stay knowledgeable about all the dates and details that affect your preferred distributor allocations.
As always, WPN Retail Support is happy to provide support, answer questions, or guide you through this process.
