Play Metrics Return to Latin America for Streets of New Capenna

Metrics will begin counting for Latin America beginning April 29.

As of April 29, coinciding with Streets of New Capenna Prerelease, play metrics will be reactivated in Latin America.

By reporting in-store, webcam, and at-home events in Wizards EventLink, you can maintain and grow your WPN allocations.

How Play Metrics Work

Here's a refresher on play metrics:

Tickets are the total number of player entries across all your Magic: The Gathering events in a rolling calendar year (the last 12 months).

Engaged Players are players who join six or more events at your store in a rolling calendar year (the last 12 months).

Your store’s play metrics determine allocations for Promo Packs and Buy-a-Box promos, as well as product allocations for Prerelease Early Sales and select products. The higher your Tickets and Engaged Players, the more promos and product will be allocated to your store.

As a reminder, Prerelease Pack allocations are not based on your Tickets and Engaged Players, but rather past reported Prerelease attendance.

Play Metrics Need-to-Knows

Here’s what you need to know about metrics counting again:

You will have until May 1, 2023 to build up your metrics starting from the date metrics begin counting in your region.

During this grace period, promo and product allocations will be based on either the metric snapshot from Q1 2020 or your live metrics. After that period, only your live metrics will be used to determine allocations.

After metrics are turned on, we will still evaluate both your current and Q1 2020 snapshot metrics and apply whichever is higher until May 1, 2023.

All Magic events reported through Wizards EventLink will count towards your metrics.

This includes both in-store and webcam events, as well as all scheduling options for Prerelease, including At-Home events. If you are still not ready to run in-store events but want to grow your promo quantities, you may report webcam and At-Home events.

All formats now count towards Engaged Players.

Whether your community prefers Modern or Standard, Commander or Legacy, or anything in between, all forms of Magic play will now count towards both metrics.

Guest entries count towards Tickets, but not Engaged Players.

Individual guest accounts are only ever connected to a single event, meaning they will never reach the six entries required to count as an Engaged Player.

All entries in your events will count towards Tickets regardless of which type of account is used, but guest account entries will not contribute to your Engaged Player count.

Love Your Local Game Store Promos Continue

Starting with the release Streets of New Capenna, WPN stores in Latin America can now begin passing out the Love Your Local Game Store play Promo cards for each in-store event entry. You'll receive these Promos alongside your Streets of New Capenna marketing kit.

Keep players coming back for more with these fan-favorite, foil, retro-frame promos for each event!

WPN event policy changes have also been enacted for stores in Latin America. We advise retailers to use our Ultimate Return to Store Play Checklist to help prep you for your return to in-store play.

For any additional play status updates and questions about conducting in-store events, please reference our Play Status page.

We’re eager to see retailers in these countries begin to grow allocations by reporting play again! Remember to continue scheduling Streets of New Capenna Prerelease events in Wizards EventLink, regardless of whether they are in-store or remote.
