Streets of New Capenna Preview Retail Guide

Get your first look at what's available and ways to strategize your marketing to sell each faction.

The Streets of New Capenna set release is April 29—and soon, you'll meet each of the five ruthless families vying to control the city: the Obscura, the Maestros, the Riveteers, the Cabaretti, and the Brokers. Your players will align with one of these five factions and fight for the victory of their chosen family.

Let's get started with the key products that have unique, faction-specific versions available.

Factionalized Product: Prerelease Packs, Commander Decks, and Theme Boosters

You can highlight each family's unique benefits to guide new players to the family that best matches their play style—and challenge your engaged players to try something new.

Here's the families' product lineup:

Prerelease Packs

Languages available: English, Chinese (Simplified), German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian

Streets of New Capenna will hit your store's shelves before the set releases on either Magic: The Gathering Arena or Magic: The Gathering Online. Your store will be the go-to place for your community to experience each of the families at Prerelease—whether it's in-store or online.

Something special about Prerelease Packs for Streets of New Capenna is the inclusion of a "seeded" Draft Booster. This Draft Booster contains cards entirely aligned with the family on the box, making Prerelease Packs even more faction-friendly.

Commander Decks

Languages available: English, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian

Players can get to know all the mechanics that make each family unique with the five pre-constructed Commander Decks. Pre-constructed decks make it easy to guide new players to the format—they can open a deck and play right away.

The five decks are called:

  • Obscura Operation

  • Maestros Massacre

  • Riveteers Rampage

  • Cabaretti Cacophany

  • Bedecked Brokers

Plus, each Commander Deck will include a sample-sized Collector Booster pack—smaller than a regular Collector Booster, they'll serve as a preview into the stunning showcase treatments this set has to offer.

Whether your players prefer to collect intel like an Obscura, or prefer forming numerous alliances like the Cabaretti, they'll have a Commander Deck that they can't refuse.

Theme Boosters

Languages available: English, Chinese (Simplified), German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian

Typically, there is one Theme Booster for each mana color, plus one that is set-specific—but the families ruling New Capenna are taking over: each of the five Theme Boosters is aligned with a faction.

When players find their favored family, you can encourage them to pick up Theme Boosters to construct the tri-color combination that will help their family get ahead.

Product Mix: Boosters and Bundle

The rest of the product lineup for Streets of New Capenna includes plenty of ways for your players to build an opportunistic deck primed for the friendly competition this season encourages.

Set Boosters

Languages available: English, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian

Set Boosters offer your players a satisfying pack opening experience, with a collection of thematically similar cards, plus an art card that will transport your players to this gilded new plane. Most regions will receive a split of Set and Draft Boosters as a part of their Prerelease Early Sales Promotion.

As a reminder, in Taiwan and Korea, Set Boosters will be made available in both Korean and Chinese (Traditional), permanently replacing Draft Boosters starting with Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Prerelease. Read the full details here.

Coming exclusively to Japan is a new way to sell Set Boosters—a box with 10 Set Boosters inside. The compact design will make it even easier for you to merchandise to fans of Set Boosters in-store.

Draft Boosters

Languages available: English, Chinese (Simplified), German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian

Draft Boosters are a great place for players to discover more cards of their favored family and get a taste for what some of the others have to offer.

Collector Boosters

Languages available: English, Chinese (Simplified), German, French, Japanese

Collector Boosters are home to an eye-catching suite of stunning art deco-inspired showcase treatments, like the Metropolis Lands. Your players can use them to build a powerful tri-color deck that wins the war and dazzles everyone at the table.

WPN Premium stores will receive an allocation of Collector Boosters for Prerelease Early Sales Promotion.

You can look forward to what's new with Streets of New Capenna Box Toppers—available in Set, Draft, and Collector Booster displays. Keep an eye on this space for their reveal at a later date.

Glamorous Tri-Color Lands

Inside Draft, Set, and Collector Boosters, players may find the glamorous new lands, including these five unique tri-color lands that will help your players curate the perfect deck to gain the upper edge for their family.

Welcome Booster & Bring-a-Friend Promo

Welcome Boosters and the Bring-a-Friend Promo are ideal for new player acquisition initiatives. With tensions high in New Capenna, each family's boss is seeking as many allies as possible.

As usual, Welcome Boosters will be refreshed for English-speaking regions outside of EMEA. All other languages and English-speaking EMEA will continue to use Innistrad: Midnight Hunt Welcome Boosters through fall 2022.

Promo Packs

Both foil and nonfoil promo packs can serve as pillars for your event prizing. You can use promo packs to balance out competitive prizing to make those events more approachable for new players or as a reward for outstanding Commander achievements.
