With your seasonal promos sorted, let's dive into a brief overview of each event in The Lost Caverns of Ixalan season. For additional details regarding any event, refer to our events page.
For many players in your community, Prerelease is the most eagerly anticipated event of the season. It's the first opportunity they have to dive headfirst into everything The Lost Caverns of Ixalan has to offer.
Remember to keep track of Prerelease attendance using your tracking sheet, and reward players who show up to two or more Prerelease events at your store with a collectible Lapel Pin featuring fan-favorite dinosaur commander, Pantlaza.
Plus, WPN stores outside of Japan can utilize the boost to in-store engagement to offer full booster displays, giving players the opportunity to snag a copy of Jadelight Spelunker, the Buy-a-Box promo.
Newer players may feel daunted by a full-scale Prerelease event—which is where Open House comes in. At Open House, your newer players (and even new mentors) in your community can learn together with games of Two-Headed Giant. Where possible, we recommend teaming up newer players with experienced players.
For players wanting to introduce a friend to Magic, Open House is the place to do it. You can run demos with Starter Kit products, games of Jumpstart, or mentor-mentee paired off games of Two-Headed Giant once the newer players feel comfortable with the rules.
With an expanded date range, Store Championship can now be scheduled on either weekend between December 2 – 10. Store Championship is a one-day, mid-season tournament designed to invite players back to your store to test their mettle in competitive Standard battles to earn incredible promos.
Standard is a Constructed format, so be sure to give your players plenty of opportunities to hone and refine their decks before the big day—we encourage you to schedule and run additional Standard events at your store leading up to Store Championship.
WPN Premium locations will receive an extra set of Top 8 and Winner promo cards with their store name printed on them. Give both the foil and non-foil version of these promos to qualifying players.
Commander Party is an event you can run as many times as you like across the weekend. It's an event where players are immersed in the story of a set. For The Lost Caverns of Ixalan, players will move along a map to reach the center of Ixalan itself.
Each season's Commander Party is supported with English-language Faction Cards and Play Aids for each pod. Local-language versions of these assets are available on the marketing materials page for you to download and print if needed!
This event is best marketed toward your Commander players, especially to those who purchase Magic product at your store but haven’t yet tried in-store play.
For each set, we create a suite of downloadable marketing materials to help your advertising efforts. With the most recent update, we've added the following assets for you to use:
Social media assets are pre-sized to fit the platforms you post to, designed to draw the eye of your community, and get them thinking about your store and events for the season. The Prerelease Lapel Pin Promotion assets include a tracking sheet to help make it easier to keep track of your players across Prerelease events.
Starting March 1, 2024, snapshot metrics will no longer be in effect. All WPN members must meet a baseline metric requirement to remain part of the network.
The current minimum requirements are 250 Tickets and 5 Engaged Players annually. WPN Premium retailers must achieve 1,500 Tickets, 30 Engaged Players, and 10 Activated Players annually.
All Magic: The Gathering events reported through Wizards EventLink, including At-Home Prerelease events, will count towards play metrics: Tickets, Engaged Players, and Activated Players. It's more important than ever to make sure you're reporting play in Wizards EventLink, be it from events or from casual play you capture in your store.
The Lost Caverns of Ixalan kicks off with Prerelease on November 10—if you haven't already, get your calendar filled with events and download any materials you need to enhance your marketing efforts.
