When The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth™ was announced, there was much talk and excitement in Hobbiton. Now, Prerelease is just around the corner and the anticipation is only growing. Your marketing and promo kit will be arriving as early as June 9, so this article will list out what's included and how to use everything in your kit.

What's In Your Promo Kit

To help support a full season of The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth events, each store will receive:

• Buy-a-Box Promo Cards
• 30th Anniversary Promo Cards
• 30 sets of collectible dice for the Magic Celebration Event (must be assembled prior to the event)
• 100 Magic Celebration Event invitations
• Bring-a-Friend Promo Cards
• Commander Party Promo Cards
• Commander Party Faction Cards
• Commander Party Play Aids
• 1 copy of Commander Party Instructions
• Store Championship Promo Cards

In addition, each WPN Premium store will receive:

• An additional 60 sets of collectible dice for the Magic Celebration Event (for a total of 90 sets)
• An additional 100 Magic Celebration Event invitations (for a total of 200)
• Store Championship 1st Place and Top-8 Promos customized with your store name in nonfoil
• An Instax Mini Photoflyer camera and kit

Each store will also receive two posters, one featuring art from The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth and another featuring the Serialized 1 of 1 One Ring promotion. These posters may experience a delay arriving at EMEA WPN stores. Moving forward, we aim to ship your set marketing poster alongside the promo shipment.

The Serialized 1 of 1 Ring is not a mechanically unique version; it functions the same way as The One Ring. The Serialized 1 of 1 Ring card is available only in EN Collector Boosters.

Learn-to-Play Demo Kits Arriving Later

To help support your in-store demonstration experiences, we are sending The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth demo kits to WPN stores across the globe. While these kits were expected to ship alongside your promo shipment, they will now be arriving later than expected—we will update your store with expected arrival dates as they draw closer.

Each demo kit contains the following:

• One Learn-to-Play demo guide with gameplay mechanics, featuring artwork from The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth
• One Learn-to-Play Playmat featuring artwork from The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth

WPN Premium stores in the U.S. and Canada will also receive a The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Starter Kit to help support even more Learn-to-Play experiences in your store. To drum up some ideas for how to run a perfect demo, check out this video.

Beyond the Demo Kits, you'll have your hands full with a ton of amazing promos and materials, so here’s a breakdown of how to use them:

Buy-a-Box Promo, Lórien Brooch (Trailblazer's Boots)

Starting at Prerelease, you can encourage players to pick up a full Sealed display of Magic product to earn a traditional foil copy of the Buy-a-Box promo: Lórien Brooch (Trailblazer's Boots). This promo is only available for in-store purchases or product pick-ups while supplies last. Shipped orders do not qualify for the Buy-a-Box promo.

Your players will receive a Buy-a-Box promo alongside the purchase of any of the following products:

• Full display of Set Boosters
• Full display of Draft Boosters
• Full display of Collector Boosters
• Full display of Jumpstart Boosters

30th Anniversary Promos Continue

Magic’s 30th Anniversary celebration continues with the next four 30th Anniversary Promo cards featuring standout cards from 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. In support of The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth prerelease, you’ll receive Tarmogoyf (printed in Japanese), Glen Elendra Archmage, Acidic Slime, and Terastodon.

We encourage you to use the promos to support your Prerelease events—if you need inspiration for more ways to implement them in your store, check out our article that shares 20 ways to make the most of your 30th Anniversary promos.

Magic Celebration Event Promotional Materials

Cordially invite your players to the Magic Celebration Event taking place from July 7 – 9. This event will bring together fans of The Lord of the Rings and Magic: The Gathering for an epic weekend of fun and games featuring Jumpstart.

You can find the details about this event on the event page or our Magic Celebration Event details article, but your marketing kit will come with materials to take your marketing efforts to the next level:

• Use the Event Invitation flyers to raise awareness of the event with your community—handing them out during Prerelease or other in-store events to let players know all about the fun reasons to join!
• Encourage early registrations with the participation promo: collectible dice! Each store will receive 30 sets—three dice of the same color and a dice bag with the Elven Planeswalker logo.
• Expand your community with the Bring-a-Friend promo card. For the first time, a copy of this card can be given to your returning player as well as the new folks they bring into your store.

The Magic Celebration Event is a great way to introduce new-to-Magic players to your community, and each component of your promo kit can be used to create a welcoming environment that keeps players coming back again and again.

Commander Party Play Aids and Promotional Materials

For the first time, Commander Party events are available at all WPN stores—every store will receive Commander Party Faction Cards, Play Aids, promo cards, and instructions. WPN Premium stores will receive foil versions of the promo; other stores will receive non-foil.

These materials will guide you and your community through an exciting Commander experience where each player aligns themselves with the Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits, or Gondor & Rohan. Will they be tempted by the Rings of Power? Who will come out victorious? They’ll have to play to find out!

Brush up on all the details of running your Commander Party event beforehand and use the provided instructions to help guide your event on the day itself.

Store Championship Promotional Materials

Store Championship events are the perfect cap for The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth events to encourage a bit of friendly competition. Promo cards for this event include:

• A participation promo for each participant while supplies last
• A Top 8 Promo for each player in the top-8 of the tournament
• A First-Place Promo for the winner of the event

Premium stores will receive nonfoil promos with their store name printed on the card. The Top-8 and First Place winners should receive both versions of the promo.

Other Promotional Items

While there are no new Promo Packs for The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth, you can continue to use the Promo Packs from March of the Machine to support your in-store events. Head over to the WPN Promo Usage & Policies hub to read more about how you can use Promo Packs in your store.

In addition to your promotional items for The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth, you'll receive the Commander Masters WPN Premium Preview Event and Launch Party promo with this shipment. Please refrain from sharing the details of this promo card until it is previewed to the public through an official Wizards channel.
