Elizabeth Peterson of the Bearded Dragon Games and Christopher Byrne of Pandemonium Games and Hobbies dispel major misconceptions about the WPN Premium application process. Hear about their journey to WPN Premium, what they learned along the way, and how you can achieve WPN Premium.
Hi, my name is Elizabeth Peterson, and I am the co-owner and manager of the Bearded Dragon Games.
My first impression of the Premium Application Process was that it’s putting the customer first.
All of the questions are simply to gauge what type of experience the customer will have when they step through your doors.
The application was not only easy to fill out, but it was also a lot of fun.
As an owner and a manager, I love being challenged and looking for ways to improve my business, both for me and for my customers.
The application process was also aided by Wizards of the Coast staff, who helped every step of the way.
Hi, my name is Christopher Byrne.
I’m the events coordinator at Pandemonium Games and Hobbies.
One of the misconceptions that we think that is out there in general about the WPN Premium Application.
I think a lot of people think that you have to have everything checked off on your list before applying, or you just won’t stand a chance of becoming Premium.
That’s simply not true.
WOTC is looking for the best of the best, but they’re willing to work with you as you develop your store and work toward the checklist.
While the Bearded Dragon Games may have met many of the physical and evaluative criteria to join the WPN Premium program, I took it as an opportunity to improve several categories.
We updated some retail displays to make them more engaging to our customers.
We added clearer signage to many of our products, and held a customer service seminar for all of our staff.
While our calendar of events is available on every social media platform, we took the time to update in-store video displays and add a physical calendar.
Going through the checklist for the WPN Premium application, I learned that trash cans matter a lot more than I originally thought.
We used to have these large open-top cans throughout the store, that honestly just filled the need of having large trash cans.
But they were pretty unappealing to look at.
We spent some extra money, got some nicer cans, and they look way better.
I was hesitant to spend so much on trash cans, but I’m very pleased that I did.
The WPN Premium program is constantly challenging its members to become the best possible versions of themselves and that has far outweighed any other benefits.
